There’s a bizzare mentality amongst those over 50 in South Dublin, that apartments are ‘flats’ and promise only social decay and crime. Also anything over 3 stories ruins the skyline….
There were apartments built in 2006 in a 90s housing development called the gallops in leopardstown, most of the residents bought the houses in the 90s and had very ordinary lower middle class or working class jobs, but when an apartment development was proposed in a far off corner of the site there were calls for 24 hour security…….
Been saying this for years. Blame your government but also blame your selfish compatriots.
A lot of homeowners in this country are now actively trying to pull the ladder up. It should be much much harder to object to developments when there is such a housing crisis. But what will you do when there still a ‘small village’ mentality everywhere in this country.
