“Earlier reports had suggested that Samadov was detained on drug possession charges, with Libre noting that it was ‘a popular practice’ to detain political activists on drug charges in Azerbaijan.”
Hence the reason Azerbaijan is Russia’s darling.

Truly one of the more sane voices on their side. Someone who sees what’s happening in his country and publicly stated why he wasn’t okay with it. Sadly I now fear for his life.

I know Bahruz personally, he’s been consistent in promoting peaceful dialogue, he’s always had anti-war stance. Another one, Samad Shixhi (sorry if I butchered his name) who like Bahruz, was pro peace, has bern detained today. I don’t care what anyone says, Azerbaijan is NOTHING but a combination of Stalinist Great Purge + ISIS.
Now on r/azerbaijan, you’re seeing Azeri Redditor’s smearing Bahruz, calling him a traitor, agent, that Armenians *worship him like Jesus* (quote) and it made me think – Aliyev regime obviously contributing to it, but Azeris are vilifying Armenians for very simple reason – that we don’t live in harsh, dictatorial conditions like they do, that we can openly express criticism towards Pashinyan and they can’t.
It’s nothing but evil jealousy. Yes, we are smaller, with smaller population, landlocked, with limited resources, but still / They want to be like us, but they can’t.

What a beautiful democratic nation. I sure hope they enjoy the bed they’ve made, and further enjoy tying their economy and security to THRIVING nations like Russia or Turkey
