Harris delivers speech to accept Democratic presidential nomination US Vice President Kamala Harris has officially accepted the Democratic Party’s nomination as its candidate for the November presidential election.

Harris delivered her acceptance speech on Thursday, the final day of the four-day Democratic National Convention in Chicago.

Harris said the upcoming election will be a precious opportunity to chart a “New Way Forward.” She promised to be a president for all Americans.

She described the election as a battle over America’s future and freedom. She added that building a strong middle class will be a defining goal of her presidency.

Harris emerged as the top contender to become the Democratic candidate about a month ago, after President Joe Biden announced his withdrawal from the election race. The party has been working to unite itself behind Harris.

With about two-and-a-half months to go before the election, Harris aimed to unite the party and appeal to a wide range of Americans, including swing voters, in her acceptance speech.
