    Yes. Democrats govern.
Democrats govern because that is what elected officials are supposed to do.
GOP destroys, hates, wants to burn America down, then cries like snowflakes.

  2. Of course it’s a lie. I loved when the redneck convoy went to the Texas border to “stop the invasion” and couldn’t find it. So the right-wing media literally said “oh…uh…It’s actually in Arizona now. It moved.”

  3. It’s not a lie, his supporters show it is a shared vision. However, the point is to block that darkness out with all the light possible. We have to be overwhelmingly joyous to where our optimism cannot be denied.

It’s the same lie Republicans have been pushing for as long as this Xennial has been alive. 40+ years claiming without evidence that ‘Illegals’, minorities, drugs, the economy, and ‘the gays’ are destroying America – they push ‘trickle down’ economics, erode worker rights, disenfranchise voters, complain about the deficit then send it through the roof when they’re in power, they bend over backwards for the ultra wealthy (less than 100k people have 30+ mill) while 38 MILLION people are considered to be living in poverty. Not to mention all the pro-rape, incest, and forced birth rhetoric/laws while denying health care and food for hungry kids.

All while pointing the finger at Democrats screaming “SEE!!! SEE HOW BAD THEY ARE!! THEY’RE RUINING THIS COUNTRY!!!”

  5. its not but the thing is trump and the republicans created this “dark america” and instead of working with democrats to fix the issues they’re so adamant about they use it as ammo for their divide and conquer tactic

  6. The way Trump tells it, I can’t even leave the house to get a loaf of bread without being mugged or murdered.

Not to say muggings don’t happen, but I can’t remember the last time I truly worried about getting mugged while buying a loaf of bread.

On the other hand I can recall quite a few times where I was worried the MAGA nut job behind me in the ridiculously oversized truck sporting 15 bastardized American flags with Trump plastered over them might run me off the road. But usually even they just speed by and “roll coal” like the small-D assholes they are.

Generally speaking I feel quite safe in the Biden/Harris America.

  7. Yes, it’s a lie. I’ve mingled with a lot of small town MAGA folk. They really, really want to believe the San Francisco and other blue cities are demon infested hellscapes where the inferno is literally coming up through cracks in the earth and marauding gangs of Mad Max-esque criminals rape and pillage at will.

Aside from Covid, which is now part of our lives (I had it 2 weeks ago and finally got out of some brain fog), my personal life has been pretty great and is only looking to get better. I have a career I’m happy with. My wife and I got married. We had a baby last year.

Obviously, things aren’t great for everyone, and my story is just that. *My* story.

When I hear about immigrants coming to the United States, that’s great! Everyone I see within our borders *is* or *can be* Americans unless explicitly told otherwise. When someone asks my wife, who is Indian, where she’s “from from,” we always make sure the answer is “New Jersey” and nothing more. My wife and I were born in hospitals 30 miles apart, no one asks me where I’m “from from.”

Moreover, our birth rate isn’t very high and we don’t want to become like Japan or South Korea with a rapidly dwindling population.

We have the chance to make this country more amazing. We obviously have *huge* faults. Every state has areas that are just dilapidated and full of homeless individuals. Some, more than others, have high rates of poverty. Our healthcare system is an absolute mess, with private insurance companies raking in record profits.

    But these are all *fixable.*

Trump says we’re on the verge of World War III or nuclear war. Why? Have you seen our military? It may be memes, but a Naval carrier group is a moving military base. We have military presence worldwide, and many are in nations that accept our presence (Korea, Kuwait, Germany). Hell, we have a [McDonald’s in Guantanamo Bay](https://www.google.com/maps/place/McDonald's/@19.9170641,-75.1572331,15z/data=!3m1!4b1!4m6!3m5!1s0x8ececfc0e847f4b1:0x3032c5de29d5e2b!8m2!3d19.9170449!4d-75.1387791!16s%2Fg%2F11gy4zvw8w?entry=ttu).

Tens of millions of illegal immigrants? I don’t know about you guys, but I live in a pretty densely populated area. I haven’t seen a huge influx of people around speaking different languages.

I used to be a prosecutor. I still have friends who are prosecutors. You know what I haven’t heard about when chatting with them? The increase in undocumented crime. I’m hearing more about recovery courts and diversionary programs than anything else really.

We have plenty of actual disagreements with our presence. Should we stop sending weapons to Israel? Should we be doing more for Palestine? There is no doubt that tthe underlying war is despicable. But the fact of the matter is the world is looking at the US to solve the issue.

We are the United Fucking States of America. We literally create world culture. People around the world watch our entertainment. Does anyone here know who [My Tam](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/M%E1%BB%B9_T%C3%A2m) is? Probably not many of you. She’s one of the biggest celebrities in Vietnam, a country of 98 million. If you ask someone in Vietnam who Taylor Swift is, they will likely know.

We have a bright and amazing future ahead of us, let’s move forward!

    > Could Trump’s dark view of America be … a lie?

Everything we do is motivated by either fear or by love.

    Fear is a liar.

  10. Think how much further ahead we, as a society, would be if we didn’t have these social and technical luddites dragging us back. It’s like a village of primitives trying to use fire, but the biggest, loudest, most obnoxious member grunting “No!” because it scares him.

  11. Unfortunately, for Jesus to come back, we have to have Armageddon. Trump brings that vision.

During his American Carnage inauguration speech, I was thinking “where is he talking about?” Made it seem like the whole country was Manhattan in Escape From New York. It’s just not reality based.

I always thought Hilary should have countered MAGA with an “I think America is Great Now” message.

  13. DNC out here throwing a massive week long block party in Chicago…. Yah I’ll take two scoops of fun and happiness. No one wants to live in a shitty angry sad world – it’s pretty easy to see.

Has anything that ever came out of Trump’s mouth not been a lie? I really can’t think of a single time Trump has said something truthful. Lying is his brand.

  15. I like the Democrat’s view of America way better.

Biden said something like “dont ever bet against America.”

  16. My husband traveled to Indiana for work the other week and met an older lady there at the hotel breakfast and they made small talk. She asked him where he’s traveling from, he said Michigan. She said (and I wish I was joking) “Oh no, I’ve heard on the news, very sad how Michigan is overrun with Sharia law”. Now, my husband is a very nice person, so instead of telling her to turn off the Fox News he gently told her that it’s not the case, he doesn’t see anything like that where we live and where we travel around the state, so perhaps the news reported on some isolated incident or misunderstood something. She kept telling him how sad it was that Michigan was under Sharia law. So he pretended to get a phone call and went away.

The picture they paint is so far removed from reality, but sadly lots of people blindly believe it and think everywhere except their small bubble is overrun with just everything they’re scared of.

Many things in life are a Simple
Balance of contentment and joy , both are free and often found in the simplest of places (family , hobbies , pizza )

  18. The simple fact is that the vast majority of people are simply trying to live a good and happy life. Most aren’t out causing problems, most aren’t religious zealots or terrorists. Hell, most illegal immigrants are just trying to find a better future for themselves and those they love.

Republicans would have you believe everyone else is out to destroy you and your way of life and that just simply isn’t true.

Anger is a drug and they need to keep giving you your dose or you might accidentally find some joy and break that addiction to anger.

This joy and hope will do more to brighten the lives of American’s than any policy. Hope is such an incredible feeling and that truly is what makes this country great. Hope that we can be better, our loved ones can be happier and our days will be just a little brighter for it.

This energy needs to be sustained all the way to election day for it to truly make a difference.

The entire GOP/MAGA world view is a lie predicated on projecting their insecurities and flaws onto an out-group instead of just getting some fucking therapy and working on themselves.

  21. It’s such a stark contrast listening to the future oriented, positive messaging of the Dem’s to Trump’s rants about crime, rape and economic ruin.
