I would like to ask for clarification regarding the following sentence: "The local and professional minimum wage is CHF 1,700.00, whereby the wage in kind for board and lodging may not exceed CHF 990.00."

Currently, my employer pays me CHF 500.00 per month, along with meals, accommodation, and a private room. Should my employer be paying me CHF 1700.00 instead of CHF 500.00?

  1. you are being underpaid, among others it says that the minimum salary is 1700 CHF and max 990 CHF can be justified for the expenses of providing you food and accommodation. So this means that if you earn right now 500 this is not lawful and this should be atleast 710 CHF , plus the max of 990 for food/accommodation in order to reach the minimum of 1700 CHF (keep in mind that even then, it is the absolutely minimum salary).

    Also there are other issues concerning the max weekly hours etc. which apparently are not ok in your current contract.

    Davon darf maximal CHF 990.- als Naturallohn fĂĽr Kost und Logis abgegolten werden.

    Sprich dein Arbeitgeber müsste dir CHF 710.- minus max. 50% Anteil an den nötigen Versicherungen ausser Berufsunfallversicherung, diese geht vollständig zu lasten des Arbeitgebers.

  3. You should be paid at least 710/month in cash (assuming your room and board is valued at 990/month)
