İmamoğlu visited the General Presidents of the Türk-İş and Hak-İş Confederations at their headquarters in Çankaya, Ankara.

After the visits, İmamoğlu made a statement to the press in front of the Union of Turkish Municipalities and said that they wished for a quick decision in the case in which he faces a prison sentence.

"I HOPE YOU MAKE A DECISION QUICKLY"

İmamoğlu made the following statements:

"I don’t know if there is another shameful case in the history of Turkish justice that has so little basis. We are following the appeal process. I hope the judiciary makes a fair decision here. A good message will come out of this to our nation. It will not become a political tool for nothing. I hope a decision is made quickly so that our country can win and justice can work."

"WE ARE AWARE THAT THE PAID SECTION HAS PROBLEMS"

İmamoğlu made the first of his visits in the morning hours, Ergun Atalay, Chairman of Turk-İş‘ performed.

Underlining that Türk-İş is one of the most important labor organizations in Turkey, İmamoğlu said, “Visiting Türk-İş is of course an honor for me. As you know, Turkey’s economic difficulties have been going on recently. Of course, the most important issue here is that we are aware of the difficulties and problems of the salaried sector in particular.” he said.

Stating that Türk-İş is fighting hard on this issue, Imamoglu, “Of course, an important line for the working class is local governments. In this context, some of the economic difficulties of local governments, in fact the economic contraction in Turkey, affects all institutions and organizations. But in this context, a strong balance needs to be established throughout the country. At this point, I hope that both your institutional experience and our principle of working transparently and at a common table with common sense in managing the process will yield healthy results in Istanbul and be an example for Turkey. In addition, as the President of the Union of Municipalities of Turkey, we also wish for the collective labor agreements to be managed in a balanced manner and for the process to mature without any disruptions in service on behalf of all our local governments. Of course, another issue was of course that visiting Türk-İş was a source of pride for me. All our unions are very valuable. They constitute an important industrial relations line. I wish you many successful tasks. I would also like to thank your entire board of directors, all your colleagues, and labor for the service you provide as a public administrator,” he said.

“I attach great importance to the work of the confederations that represent labor.” İmamoğlu said, “Because perhaps the most fundamental feeling of the concept of right and law in our country is experienced and felt there. And in this respect, in terms of delivering the right, with the culture of compromise of the parties, with common sense, with transparency… What is needed? How can institutions be made permanent? How can the rights and laws of the workforce within labor be protected? Our organizations that carry out very historical and very important tasks in addressing this with a mutual institutionality are confederations. In this context, I wish Hak-İş success in its duty and responsibility.”

HE WILL ALSO VISIT DISK

İmamoğlu’s next address after Türk-İş was Hak-İş. İmamoğlu, who met with Hak-İş General President Mahmut Arslan and his colleagues, stated that he would make a similar visit to the DİSK Headquarters in Istanbul.
