JD Vance falters with Sun Belt swing state voters. They’re more receptive to Tim Walz.

  1. Speaking as a Minnesotan, despite Walz’s favoribility still being net positive, the fact that the spread between his favorability and unfavorability isn’t higher confounds me. He’s been an awesome governor. Wtf are people basing their low opinion of him on?

Outside of Ohio or people that followed politics closely, no one knew or cares for JD Vance. Now that they’re getting to know him, they wish they didn’t.

A not-insignificant chunk of those Sun Belt swing state fence-sitting voters are snowbirds who used to be in the Midwest.

  4. This is the best tl;dr I could make, [original](https://www.businessinsider.com/jd-vance-tim-walz-sun-belt-independent-voters-polls-2024-8) reduced by 82%. (I’m a bot)

    > Ohio Sen. JD Vance and Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz are both sons of the Midwest, whose respective selections as vice-presidential candidates were rooted in a desire to reach voters in the region.

    > Across Arizona, Georgia, Nevada, and North Carolina, Walz collectively has a 40% favorability rating among likely voters who identify as independents – while 34% of independents disapproved of the Minnesota governor.

    > Vance is viewed unfavorably by Sun Belt independents.

  5. Typical “inclusive liberals” don’t like unlikable people.

What’s next women being able to control their own bodies and get divorces?

See the thing is JD Vance really only appeals to miserable assholes, and most swing state voters are normal people trying to live a decent life and they aren’t miserable assholes.

Vance is a Rich Elitist College Frat Boy, trying to pretend he is “One of them”, and is failing badly. Walz spent most of his life working for a living and knows how to talk to other people who work.

If they both squatted in front of a pack of ten dogs and say, “here boy!”, 10/10 dogs would run to Walz.

Vance is just weird. Seriously. Have you seen him smile? It looks so forced. You can tell cause the eyes don’t move.

A former football coach is more receptive than a billionaire shill….whu duh thunk!!

  11. Jaded_Decision_6229 on

The place where the SEC is the state religion prefers the football coach to the theater kid with eyeliner? Big shocker there!

  12. What? Do you mean to tell me that people in the Sun Belt like a normally functioning human instead of a weird, creepy guy obsessed with others’ reproduction habits? GTFO.

  13. When I see Walz I see someone I could talk to and who might challenge me but still be civil

The issue w Vance is he is vicious. He is a narcissistic psycopath that doesn’t care for anything other than his own self. Just like his running mate

  14. All this talk about J.D. Vance’s Appalachian background is weird. His grandparents were from Appalachia but he grew up in a suburb of Cincinnati. Cincinnati! They are big enough for pro baseball and pro football. Appalachia my ass.

  15. JD is a pretty bland and low energy speaker. Pretty much his only pros have been pronouncing Kamala’s name correctly and having served in the military for four years. Everything else is a con, literally.
