Does anyone know what was this measurement tool was used for? (Automatischer Lindeck Rothe Kompensator)

We found in the ceiling this old measurement tool from the 1950s made in Wohlen.

I would be curious to know more about the use of that tool. It seemed quite fancy for the time.

Is there any historical or monetary value in that or is it nowadays only good for recycling?
