Here’s the thing with grenades and subsequently these drones. The fragments aren’t able to penetrate much, it’s just that there are so many of them and they end up lacerating limbs in multiple places, also side of torso, neck etc. It’s not the penetrating power that kills, it’s the sheer number of penetrations to soft tissue that’s not protected. Most people are dying from leg wounds etc. So theoretically if he hits it with the butt of a rifle, that butt could absorb enough of those fragments to save himself. We even saw somebody survive head butting one. It’s easier to block fragments at point blank range rather than from a distance as they disperse.
