Railway operators and airlines in Japan are determining when they can resume full operations after services were upended by Typhoon Ampil.
All Nippon Airways and Japan Airlines say they canceled more than 600 flights serving Haneda and Narita Airports on Friday. They have also called off over 70 flights for Saturday.
Central Japan Railway, or JR Tokai, halted bullet train services between Tokyo and Nagoya for all of Friday. The section is part of the Tokaido Shinkansen line that connects Tokyo and Osaka.
The company says it will decide at around 5 a.m. on Saturday whether to resume services as usual.
If so, JR Tokai plans to run extra bullet train services between Tokyo and Shin-Osaka stations on Saturday.
East Japan Railway canceled some services on the Tohoku, Joetsu and Yamagata Shinkansen lines on Friday. The firm says all services will run as usual on Saturday.
