So this song found its way into my Amazon playlist a few years back and the sound struck a cord with me enough to go google the lyrics. I’m a sucker for less polished, stompy jams with raspy vocals. It quickly turned into one of those songs that will just pop into my head randomly.

Turns out its a relatively well known tune apparently? That much i can gather but there isn’t much info in English about the artist.

How is the track and Rino himself viewed in the context of that era’s popular music over there. Is there an American or British artist you would compare him to? What other Italian artists with similar vibes you would suggest?

I get the general theme of the lyrics but was there a particular part of society or political movement it was aimed at? Was it considered cheesy or too on the nose?

Thanks!

Bit of a random question about a song from an American who doesn't speak the language. Rino Gaetano – Ma il cielo è sempre più blu

FYI to say that the song is well known in Italy is still a massive, massive understatement.

I believe there isn’t a single soul in Italy that hasn’t heard the song at least a hundred times, from the radio, parties, or any kind of social gathering where music is involved.
