hello everyone
I am from Belarus, I came to Poland after the rigged presidential elections in 2020 and now I have international protection status in Poland. Before I get to the heart of the matter, I want to emphasize that we, Belarusians, are very grateful to Poland and all Polish women and men for the support you have given to Belarusians over the past 4 years, as you have always done before. And now to the point – I appeal to you to, as much as possible, disseminate the information below and make it available to a wider audience, because we cannot reach larger media with this (they refuse to cooperate with us). The problem occurred in the Lower Silesian Voivodeship, according to the Lower Silesian Voivode, about 20 thousand Belarusians live here, and a large part of us (we have about 500 people in our Telegram group, but many of them represent entire families) are struggling with serious problems, because we cannot receive a Polish travel document within the period set by law (1 month) this document is issued to foreigners whose passport (which also serves as an identity card for us) has expired, what’s more, the Polish travel document is only valid for one year, which means that we have to re-apply every year until we receive Polish citizenship, some of us have been waiting for two years or even more. The document is issued in other voivodeships according to the law, i.e. within a month, and only in Lower Silesia are things so bad. We want to pay taxes, work for the good of Poland, but without this document it is difficult to do so. We have a lot of volunteers willing to help the office for free, we asked for templates of correctly completed applications so that officials do not waste time on verification, but they do not accept…
I personally fought for this document for my minor son for almost a year and a half, and now I have to go through it again for my youngest daughter…
the number of Belarusians without a valid passport will grow rapidly, because most of us cannot return to Belarus to renew our documents, and a Polish travel document is the only way out for us
I know that Poles also have problems with passports in this DUW, but at least they can get these documents in other provinces, unlike us
here are two videos from Mr. Marcin Torz, who was the only person who agreed to publicize our problems:
