ugh. i don’t like stories like this. we all occasionally fuck up at work – just by not paying attention or whatever. I realise this involves a GUN but its one of those things that should be dealt with internally with a bit of extra training rather than being a front page news story.
He should be fired.
Why do garda have firearms when they are off shift?
Makes no sense why he would have it on him unless they are permitted to carry them 24/7.

Are our detectives that specialised that they are required to have them on them at all times just in case something happens? Genuine question.
Tbh people I work with regularly show up to work without their laptops because they forgot to bring them. You’d ask “how the fuck does that happen”, but it happens all the time. Say the garda got some shock when they realised it was missing lol
Unacceptable conduct, see this is the problem with some Gardai they think they have a free hand in this country. The commissioner would want to deal with this pronto & let the taxpayer know what’s happening this individual
