The Army wants its own ‘Space Force.’ They shouldn’t be allowed to have it.

That makes sense. US Air Force is largest Air Force in the world, US navy, US army, US marines are also in the top 10 for their air power. (Poor coast guard not invites to cool kid table)

All the branches will probably have space based assets and command structures to manage them.

  2. Giving them their own space command would completely defeat the point of creating the Space Force. They need to coordinate better with Space Force, and fixing that is a lot cheaper than creating duplicative administrative structures

  3. The Army needed more aviation support than the USAF was willing/able to provide resulting in the Army’s Aviation branch.

If Space Force goes the same route, becoming over specialized, the other services will respond by adding internal space support structures to provide for their own needs.

People don’t change much over time.

This article sounds more like the USAF is jealous because they don’t get to be part of Space Force.

    Who wrote this???

Jennifer Reeves is a retired United States Air Force Colonel with almost 29 years of active duty….

Ohhhhh, now it makes more sense

It’s just a corrupt power grab by SMDC who see their mission getting smaller due to the space force.

You see corruption like this at higher levels very often and fairly obvious, but the smaller corruptions in these orgs/local govt is what’s going to undermine the US

Wouldn’t it make more sense to have Space Force be a multi service endeavour? Each branch offers its own potential. Navy submariners would be excellent crew for long space flight since they are used to long term high stress missions. Army and Marines would be muscle.

You know despite the history and espirit de corp of the USMC it is also something that needs not exist. The army can train soldiers for littoral warfare and any marine infantry that’s needed can be part of the navy. Down downvote because you love the Marines, just consider the point made.its costly to the US tax payer to have a seperate USMC.

  8. People laugh now, but space is the inevitable future for conflict. I’d predict not in our lifetime tho, but another 100 years? I’m sure once a country (likely China) colonizes the moon with a permanent base or something like that it will trigger every country to make a claim to it, and the same old conflict we humans always have continues on.
