  1. A bit from the commentary:

    > The image of a downtrodden wife rebelling against her MAGA husband by voting for Harris resonates for symbolic reasons. Harris has only been the Democratic nominee for a few weeks, yet this election feels more shaped by questions of gender and power than any in the nation’s history. The GOP ticket is led by a sexual predator who a jury found “‘raped’ [journalist E. Jean Carroll] as many people commonly understand the word ‘rape,'” the judge in the case wrote. His running mate, Sen. JD Vance of Ohio, has called for a national abortion ban, wrote the forward to a book that denounced contraception for making pregnancy “seem like an optional and not natural result of having sex,” and repeatedly called women who haven’t given birth “sociopathic” and “childless cat ladies.”
    >
    > Meanwhile, the Democratic ticket is led by a woman who chose “Freedom” by Beyoncé as her campaign song, and has dispensed with the mealy-mouthed language about abortion rights to declare she stands for “the freedom of a woman to make decisions about her own body.” Her running mate, Gov. Tim Walz of Minnesota, her running mate, has decried “weird” MAGA Republicans of the “he-man woman haters’ club.”

    > There’s no doubt that the Trump campaign and the larger MAGA movement are increasingly pushing a message of bringing women to men’s heel by force. Trump and Vance know that abortion bans are unpopular, so they’re busy trying to conceal their anti-choice radicalism with mealy-mouthed claims that they want to “leave it to the states.” Yet Vance, who has denounced no-fault divorce laws and describes it merely as “inconvenient” to force rape victims to give birth, keeps giving the game away. Close Trump ally Charlie Kirk, who is allegedly organizing the voter turnout effort, declared that birth control “screws up women’s brains.” Lt. Gov. Mark Robinson, who Trump endorsed in North Carolina’s gubernatorial race, declared women should be “led by men,” and said, “I absolutely want to go back to the America where women couldn’t vote.”

  2. Wow! Just when I thought the MAGA men could not go deeper into the cave, they manage to find a way. God forbid my little woman has her own opinions. Maybe they would like us to not have access to checking accounts and credit cards. Perhaps we should not be allowed to go outside unless we are accompanied by an adult male. Heck, why are we even allowed to vote? 🤬

  3. Dear wives of America. If you’re afraid to tell your Husband who you are voting for, you may need to get a divorce. You are in a dangerous fucking relationship.

  4. Why the fuck would any woman vote for having less rights?

And why the fuck would any woman marry/be married to a Trump supporter?

If there was ever a time you *need* to vote, it would be when you’re afraid someone else will find out *how* you voted.

  6. This is why the GOP is suddenly in favor of voting by mail. No curtain to protect the private vote.

  7. If you ever wonder why photographing your ballot and/or taking a selfie while voting are illegal, think of this story.

  8. In Texas, you are only identified as D or R when you vote in the primary. In the general, you can vote either or both. They don’t show which one you voted for…

  9. MAGA men are the weakest men around .. unsure of who they really are .. snowflakes ❄️

If you’re GOP, he’ll tell you who to vote for; you have no rights as a “breeder device”/ “second class kitchen worker” under the GOP.

  11. LOL I turned my wife into a democrat who is now more liberal than me.

EDIT: When we got married, she was not political at all, but had been raised GOP. All I did was help her learn about the difference in the parties and that it’s ok to be outspoken for what is right.

  12. It’s a catch-22. It’s difficult to engage with conservatives from a left wing position because it makes them defensive. But not engaging them feeds into the general conspiracy that nobody actually supports democrats and that all these elections are fake.

If you have to question secretly voting on the sly because your husband would be upset, you have much bigger problems. I will never understand how seemingly intelligent, educated women can vote against their own interests. And yet, that mindset is so prevalent here in the southern red states. Bible Belt submissive Christianity.

  14. This is my one reservation about voting by mail. Because I know there are husbands sitting at the kitchen table filling out both ballots and making their wives sign one.

Stay focused, optimistic, positive, happy and confident. You have every right to be hopeful and excited about this election. But, when it’s time to vote, remember that voting for Harris won’t be enough. If you truly wish to see change in the USA, Kamala Harris will need a democratic House and Senate and this can only happen with your vote.

Ultimately, it is your choice who you vote into office. But if you vote for republicans, then don’t act shocked when nothing changes, no legislation passes, progress is obstructed, or when they put party over country or when they put their interests ahead of YOURS, the American people.

  16. Divorce your Republican husband. Dump your libertarian boyfriend. If they are good men who care about people they will not advocate for policies that harm women, children, seniors, disabled people, and the planet. See the light or sleep alone

  17. If you honestly fear your husband’s reaction to knowing who you vote for, you have much bigger problems and need to get away fast.

  18. Jeezus….. here in Australia pretty much no one gives a crap who you voted for. My wife sometimes says “I think I might vote for X this election” and my normal response even if I plan to vote differently is “Sounds fair – you vote for whoever you want”.

  19. Oh my gosh – give yourselves AGENCY! Be free! Think for yourselves!!! Vote like it matters, like YOU matter!

“As a poll worker, I have had to deal with husbands and fathers who want to join their wives or daughters in the voting booth to ‘make sure they vote the right way.'”

men like that should be in prison. not because it’s illegal to do that, but because they’re pieces of shit.

This is one of the big issues with places that do all in mail in ballots.

(They were also worried about places like union halls all having to vote together as well)
