The Algerian boxer at the center of a gender controversy at the Paris Olympics has filed a legal complaint in France over online abuse.
Imane Khelif won the gold medal in the women’s 66-kilogram division on Friday.
Some people on social media began claiming Khelif is a man after the International Boxing Association disqualified her from the world championships last year.
But the International Olympic Committee has repeatedly said there is no problem with her participation in the Paris Games.
Khelif told a news conference after her victory that she was born and lives as a woman.
Her lawyer said in a statement that the investigation will determine who is behind the discriminatory campaign.
