US Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris and her vice presidential running mate Tim Walz have held their first joint campaign rally in a battleground state for the November election.
The Democratic Party announced on Tuesday that Vice President Harris accepted the party’s nomination for president after she secured enough votes from delegates.
Harris picked Minnesota Governor Tim Walz as her running mate. The two held their first joint rally in the eastern state of Pennsylvania, one of the swing states.
Supporters at the rally erupted in cheers as Harris and Walz joined hands and waved from the stage.
Harris said that the campaign is not just about defeating Donald Trump but also about “the fight for the future.”
She said, “We agree about many things, including when our middle class is strong, America is strong.”
Harris added that strengthening the middle class would be her defining goal as president of the United States and promised that their campaign would “reach out to everyone.”
Walz said he could not be prouder to be on the ticket and to help Vice President Harris become the next President of the United States of America.
Harris is expected to hold rallies with Walz in other battleground states this week. With less than three months before the vote in November, the campaign against Republican nominee Donald Trump is heating up.
