Nikkei 225 drops as stock market rollercoaster ride continues The Tokyo Stock Exchange’s benchmark Nikkei Average fell from the start of trading on Wednesday as market volatility continued.

The Nikkei 225 briefly dropped more than 900 points, or about 2.6 percent from the previous close.

The index suffered its biggest-ever points decline on Monday, but rebounded by 3,217 points the following day, which was also a record.
