Harris chooses Minnesota governor Tim Walz as her running mate US Vice President Kamala Harris says she has chosen Minnesota Governor Tim Walz as her running mate for the November presidential election.

Harris announced her decision on social media on Tuesday.

Walz is 60 years old. After serving 24 years in the National Guard, he became a member of the House of Representatives and held his seat for 12 years.

He was elected governor of the Midwestern state in 2019 and is currently serving his second term.

Harris looks to officially become the Democratic Party’s nominee after President Joe Biden dropped his re-election bid. She has secured support from 99 percent of Democratic delegates in online voting that closed on Monday.

Harris and Walz will face off against Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump and his running mate J.D. Vance.
