Boeing has named aerospace industry veteran Kelly Ortberg as its new president and CEO.
It comes as the firm posts major losses and struggles with safety and quality issues.
The US aerospace giant announced on Wednesday that Ortberg will succeed President and CEO Dave Calhoun on August 8.
Ortberg has more than 35 years of industry experience and has held a variety of leadership positions.
Boeing also announced it had posted a net loss of more than 1.4 billion dollars in the April-June period. And sales dropped 15 percent from the same period last year.
Boeing’s private sector deliveries have been down since an accident in January. The door panel of a 737 MAX 9 blew off mid-flight, forcing the plane to make an emergency landing.
Ortberg will be tasked with rebuilding public trust in the company’s aircraft.
