Gymnast Oka grabs gold, Murao takes silver in judo at Paris Olympics Japanese gymnast Oka Shinnosuke has won gold in the men’s individual all-around event at the Paris Olympics. This victory marks the fourth consecutive Games in which Japan has taken the top spot in this event.

In the all-around, the total score from all six apparatuses determines the winner, who earns the title of “King of Gymnasts.”

The 20-year-old Oka, who made his Olympic debut, secured victory by maintaining his strong performance in the last round of the horizontal bar, pulling off one difficult technique after another.

Chinese athletes took silver and bronze.

Oka said he was really glad to finish without making any mistakes. He said he felt great.

In the men’s judo 90-kilogram class, Japan’s Murao Sanshiro won silver. The 23-year-old faced defending champion Lasha Bekauri from Georgia in the final. Both Murao and his opponent scored one waza-ari each. But in the last minute of the match, Bekauri secured another waza-ari, clinching the gold.

Meanwhile, spectators along the Seine River cheered on triathletes.

Although the men’s event scheduled for Tuesday was postponed due to poor water quality, the river was judged to be suitable for swimming on Wednesday, allowing both the men’s and women’s competitions to go ahead.

The Seine will be the venue for the triathlon mixed relay on Monday and marathon swimming next Thursday and Friday.
