India aiming to help Russia, Ukraine resolve conflict India’s foreign minister has said his country will tap into its relationships with Russia and Ukraine with the hope of helping both nations resolve their conflict.

Indian External Affairs Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar held a press conference on Monday after attending the Quad Foreign Minister’s meeting in Tokyo.

He said he had the view that the use of force does not resolve problems between countries. He added that the solution will not emerge from the battlefield.

The minister said India should be more active in helping find a solution to the conflict as there aren’t many countries who are actually talking to both Russia and Ukraine.

India and Russia have traditionally held friendly ties. Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Moscow earlier this month and held talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Last week, Indian media reported that Modi is considering visiting Ukraine in August, but Jaishankar did not confirm the visit.
