Japanese Major League Baseball star Ohtani Shohei has hit the 250th home run of his entire career, which includes his time in Japan and the United States.
Ohtani started as a designated hitter on Thursday. He was first in the lineup for the Los Angeles Dodgers in their home game against the San Francisco Giants.
The milestone home run came in the eighth inning during Ohtani’s fifth time at bat. He slammed the first pitch — a slider — into the right-field stands. The ball came off the bat with an exit velocity of over 181 kilometers per hour.
The solo round-tripper was Ohtani’s 31st homer of the season and his first in four games.
Ohtani has now scored 202 home runs in Major League Baseball. When combined with the 48 homers that he hit during his time with the Hokkaido Nippon-Ham Fighters in Japan, his career total is 250.
Ohtani also hit a double during the game. He went two for four, with one walk and one RBI. His batting average of .312 is the best among the players in the National League.
The Dodgers beat the Giants 6-4.
