Some Japan Airlines online services unavailable due to system failure Japan Airlines says its passenger service system has developed a glitch, knocking out some of its online services.

The Japanese carrier says the problem started shortly after 2 p.m. on Friday.

It says tickets for international flights cannot be purchased or canceled through its website or app, nor can seats be reserved.

Online services cannot be used to purchase or cancel tickets for both international and domestic flights through the mileage program.

JAL says those services are available at its call center and service desks at airports.

The company says it is not known if the system failure is related to major disruptions that are happening around the world.

The firm says it is investigating what caused the problem, and that it still cannot predict when the system will be back to normal.
