Man arrested for hugging and assaulting a girl on the street, Edogawa Ward, Tokyo

A 36-year-old office worker was arrested for hugging and indecently assaulting a teenager on the street.The man said that he had done several similar things and that he did not remember this case.

The arrested suspect, Yoritomo Murakami, is suspected of having hugged a teenage woman from behind and touched her breasts and committed other indecent acts on a street in Edogawa Ward, Tokyo, at around 1am on 22 June.

When the woman screamed, Murakami fled, and she was not injured.

The involvement of Murakami emerged from an investigation of nearby security cameras, and Murakami told investigators that he had been involved in several similar incidents over the past month or so, and that he did not remember the incident clearly, but that he had admitted to the arrest, saying, “I attacked a woman returning from the station in a similar manner, so there is no doubt that I did it.I am sure I did it because I attacked a woman returning from the station in the same way”.
