Hello,

I have this electricity plug in my garage, but I’ve never seen it before.

Could you help me identify it?
My landlord told me it could be used for an electric car, but I don’t know if I’d need an adapter for it.

I have friends visiting with al electric car and it would be nice if they could attach with a normal shuko.

  1. That’s a pretty old and no longer used (or allowed to be replaced) 380V (now 400V) socket.

AFAIK it’s called CH I40, unfortunately you’re legally not allowed to build a I40-C16 or I40-C32 conversion plug, you would need to call an electrician to rewire and refit that socket to a modern standard (source: onw of the Electricians that work with me and does certifications).

FYi: I’m not an electrician and I was told all of this some time ago, call an electrician or take that picture to one, playing with electricity isn’t just dangerous but (aa with a lot of things in Switzerland) can land you in a lot of legal hot water.
