Victim? I wonder what those teens were doing on this senior’s property…

Nothing about why these teens were on the man’s property in the first place. Usually there’s more to these sorts of stories and the guy didn’t just shoot some lost hikers

Is there anything more to this story then “he saw kids on his property so he shot one of them”? That’s a pretty low bar for potentially killing someone even if trespassing is a dumb thing to do.
Or am I gonna find out they were setting a tractor on fire and then approached him with a knife? I can’t handle the lack of context!

I’ve done my fair share of Urbex and have never had a gun pointed at me. Had cops/security/property owners come a few times though and tell me to leave, which I promptly did.
What were the teens doing on his property? Was he just some old dude itching to shoot someone, or were they threatening him?

Silly old man, bail is for Toronto’s wayward youths!

There is no reason for two teens to be entering someone else’s property unannounced in a rural area other than to do something nefarious. When you live in the middle of nowhere, hours away from help, people shoot first and ask questions later. I know it’s against the law, but I don’t blame the guy for doing it. There’s a reason Castle Doctrine exists in states like Texas – nobody is going to help you. We should be asking why they were there in the first place.

If the teen is under 18 , Is this the reason why the RCMP is slow at releasing information

It wasn’t very nice of him to shoot at them while they were on his rural property just checking on his well being.
