The President of Azerbaijan expressed confidence in the US support for the peace process
President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev sent a congratulatory letter to US President Joseph Biden on the occasion of the national holiday of the United States of America – Independence Day.
The letter states that Azerbaijan attaches special importance to its relations with the United States of America:
“On the occasion of July 4 – Independence Day, I am pleased to convey my most sincere congratulations and best wishes to you and the friendly American people in your person on behalf of the people of Azerbaijan. Our countries have always closely cooperated in solving complex regional challenges, fighting terrorism and international security issues. Our long-term and effective joint activity in the field of energy is of particular importance. We highly appreciate the determined support of the United States for the implementation of Azerbaijan’s energy strategy and the implementation of the Southern Gas Corridor, which plays an important role in ensuring Europe’s energy security.”
“I want to emphasize that we are ready to make joint efforts with the United States in all areas of mutual interest for the interests of our people, especially in the issues of climate change and the transition to green energy. The support of the United States to the COP29, which will be held in Baku in November, is of great importance in advancing the common climate goals within the framework of the event. At the same time, we are interested in the expansion of Azerbaijan-US relations in the fields of humanitarian, cultural and tourism, as well as in the promotion of intercivilizational dialogue,” Aliyev said.
According to him, Azerbaijan supports the establishment of an integrated and inclusive South Caucasus regional cooperation model based on new geopolitical realities and justice, without any dividing lines:
“Azerbaijan, as the initiator of the peace agreement with Armenia and the 5 principles that form its basis, constantly demonstrates political will to advance the peace agenda. We appreciate the determination of the United States to always support the normalization of relations with Armenia, the establishment of lasting peace in the region, and the process of preparing a peace treaty. Today, there are great prospects for the diversification of our mutually beneficial economic and commercial relations, especially for the development of our cooperation in high technologies, digital and green transition, agriculture, investments, aviation and other fields.
“I believe that we will make joint efforts to successfully continue the close cooperation between Azerbaijan and the United States, which are friends and partners, covering various fields for the sake of the interests of our countries and the welfare of our people. Taking advantage of this pleasant opportunity, I wish you good health, success in your work, and peace and prosperity to the friendly people of the United States of America,” the letter reads.
Independence Day is celebrated in the United States on July 4 every year.
The foundation of the July 4 Independence Day holiday was laid in 1776 when the 13 colonies of the United States gained independence from Great Britain during the Revolutionary War.
