ICC issues arrest warrants for Shoigu, Gerasimov over invasion of Ukraine The International Criminal Court has issued arrest warrants for former Russian defense minister Sergei Shoigu and the Chief of the Russian Armed Forces General Staff, Valery Gerasimov, over Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

The ICC made the announcement on Tuesday. The statement alleges the two are responsible for war crimes and a crime against humanity.

It also says there are reasonable grounds to believe they bear responsibility for missile strikes against Ukrainian electric infrastructure from at least October 10, 2022 until at least March 9, 2023.

The court issued an arrest warrant for Russian President Vladimir Putin last year for alleged war crimes related to unlawful deportation and transfer of children from occupied areas of Ukraine to Russia.
