Ohtani belts 22nd homer of the season against Angels Japanese Major League Baseball star Ohtani Shohei of the Los Angeles Dodgers has hit his 22nd homerun of the season in his first game against his former team.

Ohtani batted first in the lineup as a designated hitter in a game against the Los Angeles Angels on Friday.

In the fifth inning, the game was scoreless. With two outs and a runner on first, Ohtani slammed a fastball over right-center field in his third at-bat.

The two-run homer had a speed of 182 kilometers per hour, and flew 138.6 meters.

It followed his leadoff homer in the previous game against the Colorado Rockies. That put him at the top of the homer tally in the National League, ahead of second-ranked Marcell Ozuna of the Atlanta Braves. The latest homer widens his lead over Ozuna to two.

The Dodgers lost the game against the Angels 2-3 in extra innings.
