North Korea’s state-run news agency says leader Kim Jong Un welcomed Vladimir Putin with a hand-shake and a warm embrace, as the Russian president arrived at an airport in Pyongyang.
The Korean Central News Agency reported on Wednesday morning that Kim expressed his joy at meeting Putin again, following their last meeting in the Russian Far East last September.
The report said Kim boarded Putin’s vehicle and the two exchanged words as they headed to the Kumsusan State Guest House, where Putin will stay.
The report said Putin’s visit “is of great importance in reliably promoting the strategic and future-oriented development” of the two country’s relations.
It said the visit will also powerfully propel the cause of “building a powerful country,” which it said was a desire common to the people of both countries.
