Vocalist of J-pop group Mrs. Green Apple apologizes for controversial video The vocalist and guitarist of J-pop group Mrs. Green Apple has offered an apology on its fan club website after one of its music videos drew criticism for containing discriminatory content.

Mrs. Green Apple released the video for its new song “Columbus” on Wednesday. The music firm in charge pulled the video from public view, saying it contains expressions that lack understanding about historical and cultural backgrounds.

Vocalist Ohmori Motoki said the group did not intend to create a video that was discriminatory and appeared to approve tragic history. Ohmori said the biggest reason for what happened was the group’s lack of consideration.

He said the group failed to think enough about what the video would show if it was seen in an unintended way and failed to come up with alternative ideas by considering all possibilities.

Ohmori said he sincerely accepts the criticism and feels remorse.
