Delegates to an international conference on peace in Ukraine have adopted a joint communique pledging concrete measures to address such issues as the safety of nuclear power plants.
The two-day summit to discuss a peace plan put forward by Ukraine began on Saturday in the Swiss city of Burgenstock.
On Sunday, the participants held separate sessions to discuss three items of the 10-point peace plan. They included the safety of nuclear power plants and food security.
The joint communique stated that participants decided to undertake concrete steps in the three areas.
Some items that Ukraine has been demanding, such as the withdrawal of Russian troops, were not on the official agenda.
But Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy told Sunday’s plenary session, “This dialogue has taken place and it’s obvious that it can result in absolute practical steps.”
The secretary general of Japan’s National Security Secretariat, Akiba Takeo, told reporters that about 10 countries, including Saudi Arabia and India, abstained when the communique was adopted.
