China hints at countermeasures against EU's additional tariffs plan on EVs Ahead of the EU announcement of its additional tariffs plan on Chinese electric vehicles, a Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson referred to the issue at a media conference on Wednesday.

Lin Jian said the measure goes against the principle of market economy and international trade rules. He said it undermines economic and trade cooperation between China and the EU, the stability of supply chains for global automotive production, and ultimately the interests of the EU.

Lin said China urges the EU to abide by its commitment to support free trade and oppose protectionism. He said China will take all necessary measures to firmly safeguard its lawful rights and interests.
