1)These are not colonies, everyone here has french citizenship
2)This political side is not particularly against them
In fact, quite a few French territories (Mayotte for example, which is an African territory with like 99% black population) is so fed up with African migrants that there’s basically anti-immigration riots once every few months. Do you really think that, in these circumstances, they’re gonna vote for left-wing parties ?

Maybe because buzzwords like POC only serve to generalize vastly different groups of people and electorates, and are simplistic at best if not downright dismissive and racist at worst. There are various grievances that explain the shift, ranging from immigration to the state of the economy. Forcing an incredibly paternalistic American term on other societies is a *really* bad way to try to understand them.

Interpreting everyone’s motivations by simply looking at their skin color exposes a huge bias on your part. No one can explain your bias – perhaps you ought to consider that individuals have complex political desires and motivations. These may have little to do with skin color. Doing this might allow you to better explore complex geopolitical landscapes but it may prove difficult because our own biases are things we cling to in order to make us feel good about ourselves.

Christ. Identity politics really are redundantÂ
Imagine believing that the world is as simple as dark skin = oppressed = naturally ‘socially progressive’
