Fire breaks out at Yokohama Chinatown near Tokyo A fire has broken out at Yokohama Chinatown in Kanagawa Prefecture, near Tokyo.

Local fire and police officials say they received reports shortly before 5:30 p.m. on Friday that smoke was rising and houses were burning.

Firefighters are trying to put out the blaze. It remains unclear whether anyone has been injured.

The fire broke out in an area packed with buildings. A famous temple called Kuan Ti Miao is also located nearby.

Footage taken by an NHK fixed camera in Yokohama shows bright red flames engulfing the entire building and black smoke rising. Firefighters can also be seen spraying water.
