Tax evasion in Italy, Il Sole 24 Ore draws up a ranking of the activities and cities most at risk

Molise, Basilicata and Calabria have the highest percentage of taxpayers at risk of tax evasion compared to the total. Only about 40% of tax returns in these regions are considered reliable. While the categories most likely to not comply with taxes are laundries, rentals, restaurants and sports facilities. Pharmacies, medical practices and actors, on the other hand, are the most reliable sectors

in 84% of the categories monitored, more than half of taxpayers filed unreliable tax returns. Last year, 1.53 million self-employed workers filed unreliable declarations, an increase of 14%

At provincial level, Isernia, Taranto and Nuoro are at the top of the tax evasion risk ranking, while Trento, Lecco and Belluno occupy the last places
