So out of curiosity, I tried several VAAs (Voting Advice Applications). For those who don’t know who to vote for and want to find out and/or are interested, these are my considerations.
PS: I’m not an expert but many people don’t know the parties and their positions so it can be useful. The considerations are mainly based on my positions, on which party I voted/will vote and which are the "advice" of these sites. I’ll put them in order of "vote" personal.
YouTrend
There are several (at least two) made by YouTrend in collaboration with various newspapers/sites. The questions are the same and the results are the same (closest and furthest parties) but the details "accessories" are different (on Sky TG24 it tells you the "tribe"on Corriere the values).
Today
Few questions but divided into two phases: first define the area and then, if you want, five more questions to find out which party within the area. Interesting for that but otherwise fairly standard, but relatively reliable.
Will Media
Pretty standard. Without infamy and without praise, both in the questions and in the results and how he presents them. Compared to the others, a little more focused on themes "young". I’ve found worse but really low effort.
EU&I
Most "institutional" (created by the Robert Schuman Center for Advanced Studies, of the European University Institute and co-funded by the EU).
Thirty questions on various topics. The results are in percentage correspondence with the parties (Italian, but it can be set to all EU countries and also to European parties), a map (the axes are European integration/national autonomy and left/right) and on certain values selected.
Fairly accurate on Italian parties, but I tried to set it on Germany and nothing adds up.
Voting for Dummies
It is questionable whether this can even be called a test to find the party because it is created by the European Greens and is heavily partisan. The questions are sooo arrayed and posed beyond the limits of the ridiculous. A lesson in how not to do surveys/tests. The aim is clearly to have a result "the party closest to your values is [inserisci partito Verde del tuo Paese]".
Some examples:
Paradoxically it is not the worst because the result is still more accurate than the last one, for those who manage not to be influenced by how the questions are asked.
ISideWith
Interface "old" but when taking the test, expectations grow: there are many questions, on many topics, with an indicator of "importance", detailed and with many options. Paradise, everything perfect.
Then there is the result of the closest party: LITERALLY the list of parties that I could never vote for because they are the opposite of my ideals.
Absolutely not recommended.
Conclusions
These are my brief thoughts on the tests I found and tried.
I would say that the best is that of YouTrend (both that of Sky TG24 and that of Corriere), others that I consider acceptable are those of Today, Will and EU&I, the latter with some reservations.
