Good afternoon guys, I’m planning a trip to Vilnius in about a month, however my flight arrives around 10pm at night (blame Ryanair :/)and I’m worried that public transport may not be as frequent (compared to London where I’m from) or not available at all at night. I typically avoid using taxis where I can due to cost per mile, and I usually reach for google maps first. I’m wondering how reliable is google maps’ claimed first/last bus times for Vilnius (and Kaunas/Klaipeda), getting stranded in an unfamiliar surrounding is rather distressing and I’d prefer to not end up in that position.
My next leg of the journey is going to be in Riga, and setting a departure time of 12:30pm returns a departure time of 18:01 and an arrival time of 23:40 (apologies for lack of second screenshot), it seems to be a train first to Siauliai first and a bus to Riga from there. My question is is there an earlier departure from Vilnius to Riga? I don’t want to cut my time short in the baltics due to long transport times (My plan so far is 12 days in the whole 3 Baltic countries before a ferry to Helsinki and a flight back from there).

Thanks in advance

  1. Google Maps is very reliale in Vilnius. Uber is also very cheap, you’d be surprised as a Londoner.

For public transport in Kaunas and Vilnius, have a look at an app called ‘Trafi’.

There’s a daily train from Vilnius to Riga, departing at 6:30am; check ltglink.lt (this is where you see the trains between Vilnius and Kaunas too).

There are multiple direct coach connections between Vilnius or Kaunas and Riga, check autobusubilietai.lt for schedules and tickets, however this one doesn’t include all carriers. The other one I know of is ecolines.lt
