Moscow has not responded to any escalation from the Western side with esclations of its own, for example by launching a missile strike at the Rzeszow Airport in Poland near the border, let alone going nuclear. So far, this salami slicing seems to work. Likely if there is a real red line, it will be communicated well in advance.
Commentary: In my prediction, NATO (and perhaps just Europe if Trump returns) will likely be forced at some point into a choice between either accepting that Russia is eventually going to overpower Ukraine and thus only work to delay that outcome as long as possible, or risk openly breaching a red line and starting what would effectively be a preventive war with Russia.
