  1. come to the atheist side, we have “do whatever the fuck you want to do as long as you don’t hurt others” and science on our side. it’s a blast.

  2. Another-attempt42 on

In my anecdotal and personal experience, the only thing still keeping a lot of churches alive are immigrants.

I know a fair few Americans, some Christian Lebanese/Jordanians, as well as several people from various African countries, etc… and most of those attend relatively regular church services (more than just Easter and Christmas). At the same time, I don’t know of a single person of my age group (mid-30s) who is Swiss who spends even a day a year going to Church, outside of funerals or weddings.

I don’t see what I’d get out of it. It just seems like a burden. I don’t believe in God, Jesus, and I personally feel that Christianity is too often in direct conflict with my own social beliefs, so why would I? You can reach out however you want; it’s not going to change.

And then there’s the obvious complete lack of accountability in the Catholic Church, and I’m pretty sure there’s the same thing in the Reformed, just that hasn’t been as thoroughly investigated.
