OLEAN — Cornell Cooperative Extension of Cattaraugus County and the Olean Public Library will host an energy literacy workshop event 6–8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 14 at the library, 134 N. Second St.

This event is open to all residents of Cattaraugus and Allegany counties. Participants will learn how to reduce their energy bills, strategies for energy efficiency, programs and incentives to help and how buildings use and lose energy.

After the workshop, attendees can take home a free energy kit This kit includes an advanced power strip with surge protection; two LED light bulbs; window shrink-and-seal insulation kit; Silicone/rubber weatherstripping; foam tape for windows and doors; a door sweep; and five foam outlet gaskets and five foam switch gaskets.

CCE Sustainability Educator Emily Edmunds said she is excited to offer this fun workshop that not only helps people understand what energy choices have the biggest impact but also how to reduce energy usage in your building and walk home with some helpful tools to get started.
