ATLANTA, Ga. (WALB) – We are just six days from Election Day, and it appears total voter turnout could set a record once again.

According to the AJC, more than half a million people in Georgia who did not vote in the presidential election four years ago, have already cast a ballot during the early voting period so far.

According to Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger, Georgia has seen record-breaking early voting turnout. On day 16 of early voting in 2018, more than 1.3 million ballots were cast.

On day 16 in 2020, which was another presidential election, Georgia saw more than 2.1 million early voters. In 2022, Georgia saw more than 1.7 million voters, and in 2024, so far, Georgia has seen over 3.1 million voters as of day 16.

On Oct. 30, Raffensperger commented on how his office and election offices across the state, are ready to tackle the big day.

“I have no control over human behavior, but what I will make sure of, and what I have made sure of since 2018, that I will hold both parties accountable to you the voters of Georgia. I stand ready to defend the results of the election,” Raffensperger said. “Over the last few years, we have worked tirelessly to prepare for this election by adding early voting days, investing in infrastructure, creating more security and more voter convenience.”
