November is the month of Halloween and the much-discussed Black Friday, but it is also the month in which some of the ski resorts in our country open their season. In fact, we are facing a complicated week with the passage of a powerful DANA, which threatens to leave snow in the main mountain systems of the country at altitudes between 1,600 and 2,000 metres.
As long as the weather permits, the end of November will be the date when many ski resorts open. In fact, although 30 November is the date chosen by many, there are two resorts that are opening a few days earlier.
The Manzaneda and La Molina stations are the first to open
The first to open will be Manzaneda, in the province of Ourense, on November 22, while La Molina, in Alp, in the province of Girona, will open on 23 November. After them, and if all predictions are met, three of the ski resorts in Huesca will do so.
The winter resorts of Cerler, Formigal and Panticosa, in the province of Huesca, are scheduled to open their season on 29 November.
In fact, many of the mountains in the Aragonese Pyrenees are already covered in snow, so it is not surprising that some may even bring forward their opening date, although in the case of Astún and Candanchú they have not yet announced anything.

The Catalan Pyrenees coincide on the same date
But without a doubt, if there is a date on which many resorts coincide, it is 30 November, the day on which practically all the remaining ones will be inaugurated, although there are still some that have not announced the date. So, on December 1st, skiing will be possible in all these resorts in the Catalan Pyrenees, because after La Molina, the others will follow.
Additionally, Andorra
As for the resorts in Andorra, the quintessential place not only for skiing and snowboarding but also for après-ski, due to the number of shopping centres in this small country, all of them will also open on 30 November.
Significant thicknesses have already accumulated in Sierra Nevada
Alpine skiing enthusiasts who are preparing their equipment to climb Sierra Nevada are in luck, because in the last few hours, and thanks to this powerful DANA, it has already started to snow, with thicknesses of up to 20 or 25 centimetres.

The rest of the stations in our country will have to wait at least one more month to be able to open their doors. We are referring to the two stations in the province of Teruel, Valdelinares and Javalambre, which have announced their opening for 21 December, a few days before Christmas.
For its part, the winter station of La Pinilla, located in Segovia, or the one that includes the Sierra de Béjar, such as Covatilla, in Salamanca, have not yet been able to give an opening date. A season that, if it continues like this, promises a lot, since almost all of them plan to close after Easter, in April 2025.
