MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) – The UW Health Eastpark Medical Center opened their doors to patients on Monday.

The new medical center specializes in cancer care through the UW Health Carbone Cancer Center, but also offers care for allergies, dermatology, pharmacy services and radiology.

The ribbon was cut on the facility last Tuesday, with appointments officially starting Monday.

The facility also offers multiple unique features including advanced imaging, lab and a 73-chair infusion center for chemotherapy, which officials say is the largest in Wisconsin.

UW Health senior medical director of clinical cancer services Dr. Lee Wilke said this center has a very thoughtful design.

“It has several options for patients who want anything from a communal to private experience when receiving their infusions,” said Wilke.

Eastpark will have a cancer symptom management clinic which will be a significant resource to support patients who experience cancer therapy side effects.

“This clinic will enable patients to get treated for symptoms in the same location as their cancer care team and help them potentially avoid an urgent care or emergency room visit,” Wilke said. “This clinic helps patients access specialists who can assess their unique needs.”

The facility will also have proton therapy, being one of the only facilities in the world to offer upright proton therapy.

The hospital said it plans to have proton therapy start in early 2026.
