POINT PLEASANT, W.Va. (WSAZ) – A multi-million dollar emergency room project will provide patients seeking emergency care a place to go in their own backyard.

Once completed, the ER department will feature 16 private treatment rooms that include two trauma rooms and five fast-track rooms designed for patients with minor illnesses or injuries.

The project will also include remodeling the former obstetrics wing, a entrance, and an ambulance bay to support the growing community. The new ER will offer easier access for both patients and ambulances. Officials say that the remodeled emergency department is vital to the local economy because of the use of local contractors, and it will add more physicians.

“It’s a pride of the community, and they have really fought to keep it here and it struggled for a while and so with the county growing then a hospital is going to grow and serve that need,” State Sen. Eric Tarr, R-Putnam, said.

Officials say the project’s anticipated completion is early 2026.
