CAIRO – 29 October 2024: President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi met with Claudio Descalzi, CEO of the Italian energy company Eni, and a delegation of senior officials to discuss ongoing and future cooperation between Egypt and Eni. Egypt’s Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Karim Badawi, was also present.


 


During the meeting, Eni provided an update on its projects in Egypt, including advancements in research, exploration, and development activities aimed at sustaining high production levels. The company also highlighted its efforts in energy efficiency and sustainability initiatives that align with fair energy transition goals.


 


Presidential spokesperson Ahmed Fahmy reported that Descalzi expressed pride in the long-standing partnership with Egypt and commended the government’s commitment to creating an investor-friendly environment that supports mutual benefits.


 


Descalzi further emphasized Eni’s dedication to enhancing its role in Egypt’s energy sector, recognizing the country’s promising potential for both local production and exports.


 


President El-Sisi praised the strong ties between Egypt and Eni, describing it as a symbol of broader Egypt-Italy relations. He reiterated Egypt’s commitment to continuously improving the investment climate and unlocking more opportunities in the energy sector.


Additionally, El-Sisi acknowledged Eni’s role in community development, recognizing its support for various initiatives across Egypt.
