A server in Lithuania was seized in a
Milan probe into illegal hacking and snooping on personal police
and interior ministry files involving many more than 800,000
victims, police said Monday.

Prosecutors also said they were gearing to ask for permission to
question people in Britain, where there was a hacker hub
allegedly led by a woman.

The hacking gang allegedly led by Milan Fair Foundation
President Enrico Pazzalai and ex supercop Carmine Gallo
allegedly targeted mainly business figures but also high-ranking
politicians including President Sergio Mattarella and Senate
Speaker Ignazio La Russa, police have said.

The gang stole confidential information from strategic national
data bases, they said.

Police also said Monday that hacker Nunzio Calamucci had police
files on some 800,000 people on his hard disk but many more are
believed to have been targeted too.
