More than 43 million Americans have already cast their ballots in early voting, with just over a week until the US presidential election. Those in some battleground states saw the candidates return on Monday to make another pitch.
Democratic nominee Kamala Harris visited a factory in Saginaw County, Michigan that makes silicon for computer chips. She said, if she is elected, she would support manufacturing jobs and reassess the requirements for federal jobs. She told workers that they have been presented with a “serious choice.” “My opponent spends his full time talking about just kind of diminishing who we are, and talking down at people,” Harris said.
Republican nominee Donald Trump met with religious leaders at a summit in Powder Springs, Georgia of the National Faith Advisory Board. He suggested Democrats are trying to persecute them. “You’re next because – they’re all – everybody’s next with this group,” he said. “I think it’s going to be the most important election in the history of our country.”
Analysts with the news site RealClearPolitics said Trump leads a national average of polls by less than one percentage point. They said he is ahead in all seven battleground states.
