About the artist: Maria Pissarides
11-year-old Maria is already an accomplished performer, landing leading roles in a number of productions, including an adaptation of Matilda.
Maria was also recognized in the European Radio 2023 competition for her singing and music writing. Maria is currently a student in a performing arts school in the United Kingdom.
Maria was internally selected by the Cypriot broadcaster CyBC.
About the song: Crystal Waters
Crystal Waters was composed by 2014 Junior Eurovision entrant Sophia Patsalides and Armin HIGHMØRE Gilani. Maria contributed to the lyrics.
Sung in Greek and English, Crystal Waters is a summery track that reminisces on the days spent at the beach with friends and the memories made.
Cyprus in the Eurovision Song Contest
Cyprus was one of sixteen countries to have made their debut at the inaugural Junior Eurovision Song Contest in 2003, where they finished 14th with Theodora Rafti’s Mia efhi. They have competed eight more times since, with their most recent appearance being in 2017. This entry marks their 10th appearance, and their return to the contest after 7 years away.
Their best result was 8th in 2004 and 2006, with Marios Tofi’s Oneira and Luis Panagiotou and Christina Chistofi’s Agoria koritsia, respectively.
